Description

Features

  • The Nam Kwong CCFLs can operate for several thousands of hours, at thrice of the operating currents (as compared with the conventional ones) without "reddening" even till final breakdown.
  • Having excellent sealing technique between the glass and electrode, the lamps can be subjected to extreme temperature changes ranging from 100°C (boiling water) to minus190°C (liquid nitrogen) alternately for 10 cycles. They show no signs of stress such as glass leakage signifying that seals are airtight.
  • The fact that the CCFLs with suitable inverter can operate within 0.5 second after a storage life of 24 hours in total darkness (0.1Lx), shows excellent cathode discharge functions with minimal gaseous impurities.
  • Nam Kwong has patent on CCFL for:
  • e.g. A. Sintered cathode electrode head which can absorb gaseous impurities inside an operating CCFL that contains mercury vapor. (patent pending)
    B. Double layered CCFL specially designed to upgrades its quality that can operate and perform a normal quick start under extremely low temperatures without any breakage. (patent pending)

Structure of CCFL




Technology

  • Nam Kwong is making the longest quality CCFL. Only by grasping the key factors in technology could Nam Kwong be able to make high quality lamps
    e.g.
    Outer diameter 4.0mm, length 1500mm, brightness of 30,000cd/m2 at current 8mA, life expectancy of 20,000 hours.
  • Able to manufacture CCFLs with at least 50,000 hours of operating life, with outer diameter 2.6mm, length 250mm, current 6mA.
  • Successful in manufacturing mercury-free CCFLs.



Business Development

PDA and digital cameras link up human communications in information transmission. With increased demand for such electronic devices, new models appear in markets at a fast pace in order to remain competitive. As CCFLs are employed as light source in their displays, Nam Kwong has tapped into this market by volume production of CCFLs of small sizes, intense brightness and long life.

Due to intense brightness of CCFL, television manufacturers have started to develop TFT-LCD modules in compacting and slimming up the televisions. Realizing these potentials, Nam Kwong have invented sintered cathode making, making longer 1500mm CCFLs able to withstand high current, and having intense brightness and long life to meet market demands.



Naming Convention



Double Layer CCFL

When the conventional CCFL operates in very low environmental temperature, brightness drops proportionally with temperature which complicates ignition. The double-layer CCFL is designed to overcome this problem. The vacuum, being heat insulated, prompts the CCFL a quick start in very low temperature.

Other Lamps

For the sake of environmental concerns, new Xenon lamps (XFL) are to be developed to eliminate as much contaminated materials as possible in the manufacturing of backlights. In view of the market demand for industrial use, Ultra Violet Lamp (UVL) - wavelength 253.7nm has also been researched and developed. Some clients are looking for cheaper fluorescent lamps. The External Electrode Fluorescent Lamps (EEFL) are cheaper because Nam Kwong use electroductive spray to substitute the tungsten electrodes which make them easy to manufacture. Quality Assurance

Before ex-factory, finished products have to be aged for 6~24 hours to stabilize light output and electrical characteristics. In addition, chromaticity, brightness, etc will be measured accurately for quality assurance to convince customers' trust in our products.

Life Test

The CCFL testing time has been shortened by applying 2 ~ 3 times the normal operating currents to undergo extensive tests.

Reliability Test

Besides routine testing, finished products undergo reliability tests to ensure performance. In Airtight testing, the lamp is submerged in hydrogen gas and is placed in a high temperature environment for several days. By comparing the lamp voltage and current measured before and after airtight testing, any gas leakage may be detected to ensure the quality of CCFL.
